About me

Here you can read more about myself and my interests, also outside of Astronomy.

Hej I'm Anne

I am a postdoctoral fellow at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am part of two divisions: Astronomy and Plasma Physics, as well as the Onsala Space Observatory.

My research interests lie in the field of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). I study the innermost regions in which extragalactic jets, streams of matter moving with relativistic speeds, in AGN are formed and accelerated. The technique of Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) allows me to resolve the smallest scales in AGN where jets are formed and accelerated. Please find more about my research at my Science page and my publication list on ADS.

I am passionate about getting more women involved and interested in science. I am also interested in delivering my scientific findings via talks, seminars, interviews and press releases. There is an overview of my outreach activities under Outreach.

Interests besides Astronomy

I love to draw to make my thoughts and ideas visible. It’s exciting to create illustrations and images that help communicate my findings and scientific principles.

While scrolling through my website you might realize I am quite passionate about the arts, specifically in digital arts and scientific illustrations. My second biggest passion, besides Physics, is to draw and sketch what I see, what I imagine and what I feel. This hobby of mine has helped me through some of the more difficult phases of life.

During the last years I have learned how to use my artistic abilities and skills for my scientific work. This has helped me become a better communicator and promote my scientific work in a more accessible way. With time, I hope to include more illustrations on my website.
